At over twenty acres of prime commercial, residential and retail space, First Street Manchester is set to be one of the most important developments in the north west.
ripe got together all the key stakeholders, including the developers, the architects and Manchester City Council for a series of workshops aimed at creating the basis for a brand that will not only deliver the scheme throughout its development stage but also well into the century.
As the scheme will play such an intrinsic role to the success of Manchester, the brand has been designed to reflect and sit along side the original modern essence of the city itself, not only through the name and the visual identity, but also ingrained into the way everything is done at First Street from the ground up.
The name, First Street Manchester, evolved from the working title of Central Spine was unveiled with ripe's brand film at MIPIM earlier this year to rapturous applause.
First Street will extend the heart of Manchester city and form the new international gateway to the centre.
The first phase is Number One First Street, the former BT building at Grand Island, which will be refurbished and a further three floors added, including a green rooftop garden, and the UK's largest green walls, to create 175,000 sq ft of Grade A office space with an investment value of £35m.
People will be able to get straight to the heart of First Street by bus, tram and train and will take advantage of some of the UK's best working environments alongside a rich mix of bars, restaurants and retail outlets.
The whole scheme will include 1m sq ft of superbly designed residential space, 1.5msq ft of grade A office space and the complete re-modelling of 15 acres of public land, including four stunning public squares and a 300 metre long, 18 metre wide tree-lined boulevard.
ripe will now be responsible for all the marketing communications across all channels to deliver what will be an amazing place at weekends, weekdays and evenings for a large and eclectic mix of people.
